The Surgery Branch, Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH) invites applications for the Surgery Branch/Cancer Immunotherapy Research Fellowship. The Surgery Branch of NCI is a combined laboratory and clinical research unit devoted to the development of innovative cancer immunotherapies and their translation to the treatment of patients with cancer. The Surgery Branch/Cancer Immunotherapy Fellow will have the primary responsibility for caring of patients on early phase clinical protocols as well as becoming involved in basic science and translational research projects. In this two- or three-year fellowship, six months are dedicated to operative complex surgical oncology cases. Previous fellows have successfully matched in competitive subspecialty surgical fellowships such as Complex General Surgical Oncology, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. The successful candidate must be a US categorical resident in an ACGME approved general surgery residency program and have finished two years of training prior to starting at NCI. The fellow does not need previous basic science experience. Salary and benefits are commensurate based on applicant’s experience and there is relocation assistance. Applicants are eligible for a generous NIH Loan Repayment Program. This is a full-time position and full Federal benefits including leave, health and life insurance, long-term care insurance, retirement, and savings plan (401k equivalent) will be provided.
