Division Chief, Division of Surgical Oncology

The Department of Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure track Surgeon-Scientist/Investigator at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. This individual will serve as the Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology and play a key leadership role in the expansion of clinical programs and research within the division and health system. The selected candidate will receive an endowed professorship and a competitive recruitment package.

Furthermore, the Oncology service line is highly ranked, and the Department of Surgery is one of the national leaders in NIH funding.


Qualified candidates must have a strong background in clinical surgical oncology, with preference for candidates with experience in hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery. They should also have completed an ACGME accredited complex surgical oncology fellowship program, and have at least eight years post-fellowship experience as an attending surgical oncologist, be eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois and to work in the United States. Successful candidates should have a proven track record of leadership and national reputation in surgical oncology and demonstrate excellence in clinical care, research, education, and administration. They should have a proven track record in securing extramural funding to support academic endeavors, which may be in the basic, translational, clinical trial or health services outcomes research. This position includes clinical care of surgical patients, education of medical students and residents as well as the opportunity to lead the research activity/portfolio for the Division of Surgical Oncology. Teaching responsibilities include involvement in student, resident, and fellow education. The selected candidate will also participate in various educational (e.g., training, preceptorship, mentoring, etc.) and research programs (e.g., clinical trials, innovation and patents, etc.) at the Feinberg School of Medicine.
