Colorectal Surgeon

Assistant/Associate Professor of Surgery – Colorectal Surgeon Division of Surgical Oncology, Section of Colorectal Surgery Department of Surgery University of California, San Francisco


The Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time academic colorectal surgeon with an exemplary record of patient care. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified by the American Board of General Surgery, and have completed or will complete by the time of hire a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery, or Complex General Surgical Oncology with a dedicated fellowship in colorectal surgery. Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. Qualified applicants should be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery (ABCRS) and should have experience in colonoscopy, advanced laparoscopic procedures, robotic surgery, and benign and malignant colorectal disease care. Applicants with experience in clinical trials, health services research, or translational scientific research are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates will be expected to take call for the colorectal service and provide consultation and management of colorectal patients for the acute care surgery service. This position will be primarily located at the Mission Bay and Parnassus campuses of UCSF. Candidates will be proposed for an appointment in the HS Clinical, Clinical X, or In-Residence track.

Applicants are expected to teach residents and medical students; participate in University service, faculty meetings, monthly Grand Rounds and M&M conferences; contribute to quality assurance programs and continuing education; and advance the mission of the Section of Colorectal Surgery and the Division of Surgical Oncology. Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department’s residency/fellowship training and educational programs.
